Herbert's Hellraisers - 2009 Dragon Boat Champions

Herbert’s Hellraisers, led by team captain David Gent, stormed to victory at this year’s Downham Market Water Festival, held on Sunday 9th August.  After finishing third and second respectively in the previous two years, Herbert’s were determined to bring home the trophy this year – and they did!

After cruising through their heats, and setting the fastest time of the day on the way to the semis, Herbert’s Hellraisers seemed set for an easy victory.  However, they decided to create some tension for their enthusiastic team of support by finishing third in their semi final and going through to the final as one of the fastest two runners up.

Herberts were obviously saving their best for last, and they paddled their way to a decisive victory in the final, beating two teams from British Sugar, along with last years winners “Plumbers Mates” to take the trophy, much to the delight of their family, friends and colleagues.
