Herbert Contractor I (1800) - Simply the Best

As a well known manufacturer of high specification and bespoke on farm potato handling and grading systems, R J Herbert Engineering Ltd has been offering vegetable growers machinery with great flexibility incorporating many extra features since the early 1970’s.

However, Herbert’s understand that not all growers need the level of sophistication and adjustment available on the current Herbert range of machinery. Launching for this season is the new Contractor I (1800).

Combining the quality build, components, and unique design features which Herberts continue to offer year after year this new simplified model offers a fixed cleaning system, with more standard conveyor configurations resulting in a lower cost machine to the farmer.

The new Contractor I (1800) is available in 4 standard models each with a single specialist cleaner fitted. The farmer can choose between stars, multi-sep, coils or hydraulic rollers.

The fixed cleaner removes the need for a presentation conveyor between the hopper and cleaner provided for cleaner interchange making the machines more compact for transport and reducing the space required in a grading shed.

The fixed cleaner concept along with other modifications such as a simple grading screen agitation system creates a cost effective, basic farm grader for growers but is still manufactured with the famous Herbert build quality.

This new farm grader does not compromise on build quality as the same high quality parts are used as with the market leading Contractor II (1800 & 2400).

This new model will have its first English appearance at Cereals and first Scottish appearance at the Royal Highland Show both in June. Farmers can also see the Contractor I (1800) at Herbert’s factory site near Wisbech in Cambridgeshire.

Herbert’s Agricultural Sales Engineer Steven Skipper commented “Limited numbers of the model will be available for the 2009 season and interest has been high not only in the UK but from Western Europe”.

This new edition to the Herbert range gives growers more choice to the industry at a time when everyone is looking at value for money.
