Further refinement for baggage orientation device

U.K baggage handling equipment suppliers Herbert Systems Ltd continue to improve their “Pathfinda” baggage orientation device.

Originally designed in 2005 to eliminate the necessity to manually orientate baggage prior to a scanner/x ray tunnel, the Pathfinda was rigorously tested by one of the worlds leading airport authorities during its development.  A significant reduction in baggage jams, saving in labour and subsequent increase in security has seen the Pathfinda successfully installed in international airports.   

New for 2007 is improved software allowing even greater orientation accuracy from randomly fed baggage. The enhanced performance allows the orientation machine to be used not only for feeding scanners but now can present baggage for a robot to pick up and stack in an apron transport vehicle.

By orientating the baggage prior to the robot pick up a reduction in the robot cycle time is achieved. This time saving facilitates the use of fewer robot arms for the stacking process saving cost and considerable floor space whist maintaining high operation speeds.
