Par for the course

Never a company to shy from a challenge, U.K baggage handling equipment suppliers Herbert Systems Ltd prove their “Pathfinda” baggage orientation device can deal with even the most problematic baggage.

Golf bags come in a large variety of shapes, weights and sizes and are often a problem for automated conveyors systems.

Herbert Systems Ltd has been approached by an airport system integrators to investigate the reliable orientation and conveying of golf bags.

At their base in the East of the United Kingdom their impressive test facilities have been put to use to ascertain the feasibility of a baggage orientation device to deal with golf bags of all sizes alongside general baggage.

Andy Dowe, Business Development Manager at Herbert Systems commented,  “ The testing of the golf bag orientation and handling is progressing very well. As our Pathfinda orientation does not use ploughs or pushers to move the baggage there are no catch points for the many straps, toggles and protrusions on a golf bag to be caught up on. With its system of independently driven twin modular belts the Pathfinda will reliably orientate a golf bag along with regular baggage”

With airports in certain areas of the world dealing with increasing numbers of golf playing passengers Herbert’s are confident that, in the near future, supply of automated golf bag orientation and handling equipment will represent a significant proportion of the machinery they supply.
