Long Sutton & District Agricultural Society Factory Visit

Rod presents to Herbert youngest visitor

On Thursday 27 October, Rod Herbert (Chairman), Steven Skipper (Agricultural Sales) and Dick Webb (Agricultural Service Manager) were pleased to host the Long Sutton & District Agricultural Society. The 24 visitors started their evening with a tour of the offices and manufacturing facility seeing the latest 3D video animations of packhouses designed for projects in Poland due to be installed in Spring 2011. The real life videos made the following factory tour much more interesting as the processes were explained from fabrication to final assembly of products and projects for the four main sectors of the business – agricultural, freshpack & process, recycling and airports. The visitors were then treated to a live demonstration of the latest airport product; TRS (Tray Return System). With 16 similar systems already installed in London Stansted, visitors could enjoy testing the tray system without having to usher through security to catch a plane! Steven Skipper provided an interesting overview of the business and left visitors with a more indepth understanding of the Herbert business, who is now a key manufacturer and supplier to many of their fellow growers and businesses. The highlight of the evening was when Rod Herbert was pleased to present the youngest ever visitor to Herbert Engineering with his own Herbert t-shirt – Alfie Dye aged 7 years was keen to attend the event with his father and grandfather.
