Role Description – Production Manager
Role Title: Production Manager
This is a new role to manage the assembly of our new range of airport products in a new facility being developed early 2012. We are expecting significant growth in this sector of our business so while the production team will be small initially we expect that the demand will mean the role will develop and evolve. This role will have plenty of support and will report to the Herbert Engineering Assembly Manager initially but may report directly to the Senior Management at a later date.
The successful candidate will be involved in setting up the facility and will therefore have a unique opportunity to influence the team selection, design of the production processes and how the facility is run.
This role would ideally suit a Manager, Team Leader or Supervisor from a Production or Manufacturing background.
Role Responsibilities
- Overall management of production team (assembly, quality, stores and despatch) .
- Review orders and develop production plans and schedules.
- Plan capacity and make decisions regarding inventory levels and staffing levels.
- Maintain and improve production output to agreed delivery, quality and cost targets.
- Monitor and report Cost, Quality, Delivery and Safety metrics.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement activities .
- Review performance of production team and outline development / training plans.
- Provide input into budgetary requirements for the area.
- Manage Health and Safety of the facility .
Skills & Experience
- Manager or supervisor with proven experience in a batch or low volume manufacturing/production environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good organisation skills.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Experience of leading and developing new teams.
- LEAN experience including the use of tools such as 5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, Visual Management.
- Good IT skills, experience of using MRP would be advantageous.
Salary: Negotiable based on experience / qualifications
